Positive Psychotherapy is derived from a positive view of man: Every person, every family, every society, every culture and the whole mankind have the potential to develop towards health, justice and peaceful coexistence. The cross-cultural approach is a practical application of Positive Psychotherapy and the positive view of man.
The Foundation´s Mission
The Peseschkian Foundation aims to maintain the International Academy for Positive and Cross-Cultural Psychotherapy and support scientific studies in giving research grants in the field of Positive Psychotherapy nationally and internationally. The Foundation serves as an information- and communication centre for the different Centres, Institutes, Organisations and Offices of Positive Psychotherapy worldwide. The aim of the Founder, Prof. Dr. Nossrat Peseschkian, was to contribute to peace-development and conflict-research.
The Peseschkian Foundation is primarily obliged to the service of mankind, especially cross-cultural understanding through education, self-help, psychotherapy and cross-cultural consultation. The Foundation pursues their objectives not only through various publications and projects but also through postgraduate continuing education and courses as well as panels and workshops and participation in education, self-help and cross-cultural programs in Germany and worldwide.
Prof. Dr. med. Nossrat Peseschkian - Founder
Prof. Dr. med. Nossrat Peseschkian (1933 - 2010) was a specialist of Psychiatry, Neurology and Psychotherapeutic Medicine. He was Professor for Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine at the Academy for Continuing Education at the State Medical Association for Hesse, Germany (since 1971). Prof. Peseschkian was the founder of Positive Psychotherapy (1968), which is based on a transcultural approach. As an international lecturer he has traveled to 67 countries worldwide.
